Grant sarver made tongs out of it it's low carbon content and alloy content make very strong tough tongs. If you were to make a anvil or stake out of it you should look into case hardening the face. JamesBBrauer Posted December 10, 2012 Share Posted December 10, 2012 I use 7/8" disks for artowork bases, though I'm just using low carbon hot-rolled. Almost seems like a waste to use a quality material on something that just needs to be heavy. Welding those end to end would make an awesome anvil for a power hammer.
