bionicarm
I got this a little while ago but couldn't post pics of it because my camera had a small crisis...we got over it together. Worked it off Stewarthesmith by moving about various objects that needed moving and a lot of bird poop, which was good cause I have time and energy. Stewart also allowed me to watch him do a bit of work and we bashed some metal afterward. it's 4.5 inch and needs a bit of work tightening up the mounting plate and maybe a bit of wire wheelin, but I'm very pleased. Unfortunately, most of the pics of Stewart were lousy because my camera didn't like the dim lighting... First pic shows Stewart's anvil. It's ok I guess but I prefer an anvil you can get a good nights rest on, not just a nap when your arm gets tired ^_^ Third pic the color is off, dumb camera. HWooldridge
That vise is nice and square plus all the parts are there. Mount it, oil it and put it to use.
Timothy Miller
Stewart is a square dealer that is a good vise.
ThomasPowers
I certainly would have worked you a WHOLE LOT for a vice that nice!
bionicarm
ThomasPowers, You haven't seen the hay elevator I moved all my my lonesome (among other things) ... nearly killed myself before finding a few pullies and some rope :) Stewart, as I said, just let me know when you need me :)
Everything Mac
Looks like a good vise. Well done. I have to ask how big is that anvil? It looks huge! :o Andy
seldom (dick renker)
stuart, it appears that you have run into the horn of your anvil a couple of times. ouch.
HWooldridge
700 lbs of hay budden on the hoof Stewart, maybe it's the perspective in the pics but the anvil looks pretty "tall" in relation to your swing. Is that correct or just my imagination?
Everything Mac
700lbs! :o Blimey. Can't say I've even heard of one that size over this side of the pond! Lol. Cheers guys Andy
ThomasPowers
Well y'all are on a "small island" I know two folks here in NM, USA that use 750# West anvils and I was on the track of a 1000 pounder when I had to move 1500 miles further away. Everything Mac
There's some big ones over there. Just ask Basher:http://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/27093-i-think-i-have-finally-found-a-big-one/ Yeah I saw that thread last night. That's the first one I've seen of that size over here. Seen a few 3 and 4cwt anvils but never anything that size. Bit on the large side for the kind of things I do, but I'd love a 3 or 4cwt anvil. All the best Andy
ThomasPowers
A truly large anvil makes an excellent place to serve tea o. Smugness is part of the anvil-envy syndrome...till you hear of a larger one, then yearning and coveting kicks in...
ThomasPowers
But But if you drink your beer *cold* you can get rust on the anvil face! I used to tell my wife I wanted an anvil large enough to serve dinner on...
