Chainsaw Chain and Zebra Wood

This knife is welded chainsaw chain. The pattern isn't showing a lot of contrast after an etch in Ferric Chloride. I'm gonna try another medium to see if I get more contrast before finishing this one up.

That's a really nice blade! I like the profile. I can see the patterning slightly. What grit have you taken it to? Are you using brass tubing for the pins? Really cool.

Thanks guys it's not finished ...preliminary etch to see what the chain would look like. Brass lanyard pins. It's sanded to 400 for now.

Nice looking knife! Is there a thread explaining the chainsaw chain to knife process? I've seen a few knives made from that on here, and I'm curious to see how that works.

I've been collecting some chainsaw chains for a knife project. I'll be watching for the new project before I decide to start. Lovely knife BTW.
