Timothy Miller Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I picked this up the week end. For those who don't know this is a coopers or barrel makers stake. This tool was mounted into a log and used to make and rivet barrel hoops. These are fairly uncommon to find these days. There are several forms of this tool but this kind seems to be the most common. teenylittlemetalguy Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 neat to see. never saw one before. Quote
Frosty Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Nice score. The only one I've seen was in use on an episode of "Dirty Jobs" at the barrel makers. It was a quick snipet from a distance but they were using a tall stake anvil. Cool beans. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
eric sprado Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Here's one I picked up a few years ago. The wood that it is on has forged hoops to keep it from splitting.I'd like to see it in a museum somewhere. Quote
