March 1, 201214 yr Thomas, the one good thing I can say about Alex is that he had great taste in music. :)
March 5, 201214 yr A Ponca Indian tribal song, "Leader; I have no friends." The story behind it goes that in the old days, a Ponca warrior snuck into an enemy camp at night time, maybe to steal a horse or two. He saw that the enemy tribe was having some sort of dance around a fire, so he wrapped himself in a blanket and joined in. He was testing his nerve, but eventually, he accomplished his mission and returned to his people. He told his story to one of the tribal head men termed the Leader. He said that when he was dancing, he felt quite alone although surrounded by other dancers. Therefore, "I have no friends." Lots of the songs serve as a kind of living archive describing past events and battles, and sometimes naming the long ago warriors.
