Mark Emig
Just picked this thing up-way cool. Forgot to write down the brand, but there's a patent date of 1893 on it. Just too pretty to leave it where it was. Guy was using it for an outfeed table for his table saw. There's a round table that I didn't get in the pic. Belt drive. mudbugone
That's an old "Camelback" drill and a xxxx fine one too! You scored something I've wanted for a while...they are more a work of art than a tool although they make fine drill presses.. Great score and you owe someone big time...LOL..Enjoy your new toy.. Mark Emig
It's pretty sweet. The motor is a work of art-looks just too cool. I'll post pics of that later.
Hayden H
I have the exact same thing. Its just missing the fine-increment down feed lever thing. Paid $45 for it. Its to big for my use and I'm thining about scrapping it or trading it to another maker for a pile of old tools

Frank Turley
A Royersford Excelsior? circa 1920? Very nice!
Mark Emig
Actually, it needs very little work. The babbited bearings are all good-light rust on the quill, and sawdust stuck everywhere. It runs now. And I have a #3 morse taper drill chuck, and a bunch of #3 taper drills. Only problem is that it has a big footprint.

Please DON'T scrap it they are nifty looking machines.... I'd keep it in my shop to look at even if it didn't work....LOL....but then I like strange things... Mark Emig
The machine is a W.F. & J Barnes Rockford IL. also has 22-1/2" drill cast in the side.
Hayden H
Could you put a milling table in the post hole? That'd an indestructible milling machine
mudbugone
Actually they don't handle the lateral pressure exerted when trying to mill with them well at all.... It causes excessive spindle wear. The vertical movement encountered with a drill press is different than the side-to-side movement in a mill. That's not to say they can't be used in a limited capacity for light milling...just that they aren't configured to do so.
Mark Emig
It came with a pretty cool vise to drop in the center hole. I'll get a pic tomorrow.
Timothy Miller
I have a 20" buffalo with back gears. It will drill some big holes. I put a forward and reverse switch on it and it is good for tapping too. But to be honest a Bridgeport will do everything that will do and it will mill as well. Used Bridgeport can be had for less than a 1000 bucks these days. Still good score mark.
Mark Emig
It was one of those things I just couldn't pass up. I have a mill, but this thing is a "pretty" toy-lots of "cool" factor. For 200 bucks I think it was a good buy. Only problem is-where the hell do I put it???? I have no room and just keep buying more goodies. My name is Mark-and I am a total tool junkie.
