Greenbeast Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Knocked this together for someone over the weekend just gone: I might go with shorter candles to not overwhelm the piece in the end. Quote
John B Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Nice piece, Are the candles on prickets ? Quote
cvmikeray Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 What thickness is the plate? Nice work !! Quote
Greenbeast Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 It's constructed of 50x5mm bar Thanks! Quote
beth Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 i like the big candles on it! love the texture greenbeast, and the shape is unusual and eyecatching. hope your customer appreciated you work :) Quote
Greenbeast Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks Beth, yeah he saw some of my other candle holders with that texture and asked for something along these lines. Luckily i've got a little power hammer to take the elbow work out of all the hammer pein marks! He hasn't seen it yet so i hope he does too! Quote
zeberdy2 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 really like this, really nice simple design. what was the finish? Quote
Greenbeast Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 It's just been wire cup brushed to remove forge scale, then degreased, that's all. Finishing techniques is an area i need to investigate more Quote
zeberdy2 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 yeah me too, i like waxing alot of my pieces, the metal comes out a bit more of a black sheen. but equaly i like just wire brusing like you have done, i like the pewter like finish it gives. i need to find some more wax though, which im finding difficult from everyday shops.
