Thomas Dean
I got to watch Tom Clark do this with a piece of 3/8"rd back in '05 at the IronFest in Grapevine, TX. Pretty cool...

pkrankow
I practiced this every day for a month. I did it once and could not repeat it. Getting it to blue or gray is quite easy, after the steel is becoming somewhat pliable the hammer control needed is much greater. It is easy to twist instead of flattening. My hammer control greatly improved even though all my anvil time was a minute or two for one or two attempts per day that month. It is an impressive feat to do this at will. Randy
I used to see the old timers like Joel Voiltz do that at the ABANA Conferences. Pretty cool. Uh, don't do it with the hardie on the anvil, though.
Glenn
Good eyes Randy. One mistake and you can cause a massive personal injury. Remember personal safety is your personal responsibility.

Pat Roy
When I first read/heard about the possibility of doing this, I was a dis-believer. I'm not from Missouri but I need to see it to believe it. Then I tried it and found that it works. I don't want to do it on a regular basis though.
