Hi all,
Picked this up this weekend. Its hinged on one end with what looks like it was meant to screw into wood? Its solid iron or steel and kinda reminds me of a tinners swege. Heavy( about ten pounds or so). Any Ideas?:confused: Was told by the dealer it was a log dog but it doesnt look like any log dog ive seen or could find on the web.

I've seen log dogs with hinged ends---never one with a screw though.

Hello Bear, I think it is a log dog that is use on a saw mill carriage to keep log from rolling. The screw end, was put in hole in deck carriage. then hit with hammer to set in side of the log being sawn.
