Prokopto
Made these for holding small stock like 1/4" square and round. Did a pineapple twist for the handles. I found a Brittish fellow on youtube demonstrating this twist so I thought I'd try it. Finished with a burned down beeswax candle my wife let me have. I resized it with paintshop but did not click the "are you really sure you want to do this" button before I uploaded it.
MRobb
Nice job! Looks like you got the pineapple twist down. Mitch
CurlyGeorge
I agree with Mitch. If that was your first pineapple twist, looks like you got it down. Good job. Thanks for sharing. :)
Frosty
Pretty good for a first pineapple twist. I don't know how good it'll be as tongs, there isn't much bit to keep stock from shifting. Or am I mistaken thinking it started out as nippers? I find that making the twist before drawing shafts down makes for cleaner transitions. The gals I make doffers for like cable twists better than pineapple twists, they say the pineapple twists are too sharp in their hands so I go with the customer's preferences. ThomasPowers
Lovely twist. I generally like my grips as smooth as possible though even rust pits get a go over with crocus cloth and waxing to keep my hands from wearing out.

Frosty the Lucky These tongs are for holding 1/4" stock and I set the jaws that way so I can pass the stock beyond the jaws and clamp closer to the heated end for more control. I really like the way they hold the small stock. While the handles look cool they are not the most comfortable in the world either. I'm new at blacksmithing so I suppose I've learned a good lesson about handle design. Smooth and simple is better.
