3lbhammer Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Any one here ever forge garden tools. I would like to forge garden hoe ? Quote
Brasilikilt Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I haven't personally, but have the book "The complete modern blacksmith" by Alexander Weygers which has a few sections that deal with the forging and re-cycling of garden tools. Quote
Ed Steinkirchner Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 depends what kind of hoe you want to make, one piece, riveted blade, welded blade, as well as if it is a small, one-handed one, or a bigger one. Ive made 1 each way. I like the 1-peice ones forged from a piece of leaf spring. it all depends on what steel you have, what you want to make, and your level of skill. Quote
pkrankow Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I worked up a process for a cultivator that can be adapted to anything else. I have not had time to work on it in steel though. You can also make it a tang blade with a collar. Phil Quote
Steve Sells Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 There was a post in the past few days about a very nice socketed hoe, in this section. You may want to have a look Quote
Stormcrow Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Got a specific question? I made the hoe Steve mentioned. Phil - Interesting to see that planned out. Looks like it should work. Quote
