FieryFurnace Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Don't you just love those times when you spend 10 minutes making something that you have put off making for 4 years, and when you are done you think, "how did I ever live without this.?" Well I spent more than ten minutes on this, but it is GREAT! It is about 6 feet long. The square pieces are tubing and are spaced 1 3/4" apart. As you can see in the pictures it holds tongs and hammers well. I am going to make a similar rack but on the next one I'm going to weld a bunch of round tubing for holding chisels, punches, and similar tools. Quote
CTBlacksmith Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Looks great. I like that it can hold tongs and hammers. Looks like you have a nice set up for your shop. Quote
CurlyGeorge Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Good job, Dave. Looks like you're thinking ahead. :D Quote

FieryFurnace Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks guys! I got to thinking and I believe I need more tools to fill this thing up! I'm now accepting donations of power hammers, tongs, handheld tools, and hammers! Email for address to support the Triple F Blacksmith Co. LOL Quote
ianinsa Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I have some spare stuff, will you pay UPS? Nice tool rack! Ian Quote
John B Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Nice rack Dave, if you use flat bar on edge instead of the square bars, tong handles fit better when dropped over them, they also don't deflect as much under the weight of the tools in them which can become quite considerable, The other thing about tool racks is they tend to never be empty, or enough of them, as they always seem to accumulate tools nearly as fast as you make them. Workshop's coming along fine there I see. Keep posting the pics Quote
FieryFurnace Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 I have some spare stuff, will you pay UPS? Nice tool rack! Ian Sure! LOL Yes I noticed that about the tong handles getting pushed out a bit. Perhaps I'll make a tong specific rack! Quote
John B Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 A good thing to get in the habit of when using tong racks is to make sure you cool the working end of the tongs before you return them to the rack Quote
