October 4, 201015 yr The "BEAST 2.0" The BEAST.. Its a Brute of a knife that was based off a K-Bar design. Although the K bar is awesome, We made some changes! To start we added to the blade length and width and thickness. Then we reworked the handle shape a little! Specs. OAL 11 7/8 inches With a 6 1/4 inch convex ground blade. Handles are Stabilized Tiger Maple, with Red Mosaics and lanyard tube. File work and handmade leather! Damascus forged by Randy Jr. Knife made by Randy Sr.. Thanks for looking and as always your comments and critiques are welcome. I warned ya it was Pic Heavy. God bless.
October 4, 201015 yr Sorry, not a K-bar. Very handsome, love the file work on the spine, looks like a nice weight and grip. The fine details are eye catching. Thanks for sharing. Phil
October 5, 201015 yr Author Of coarse its not a k bar, Its a HHH knife based on a k bar design we like, thanks for looking Mrkiddi: Thanks man it was awesome making these we had a lot of fun!!!
October 5, 201015 yr Thats a good looking blade fella. It's unusaul to see a blade described as 'full convex' with a secondary bevel though. Did you put a secondary convexed edge on it or a set angle (flat) secondary ?
October 5, 201015 yr Author Yeah its a secondary convexed edge, misspoke in the post thanks for pointing that out, i'll fix it! :)
October 5, 201015 yr wow another superb knife by sr and jr you two make an great team thank for posting you're work

There's something to marvel at from every angle. Very nicely done!! Have to agree with others, however; From the pommel to the point, I'm afraid I don't see anything left of a Ka-Bar. I assume we all mean the traditional Marine Fighting Knife? One of mine for comparison: "We made some changes!"?? ehyup Still, very nicely done!!! :)
October 6, 201015 yr Author This was a custom order and the knife we got our inspiration from is this one, Im not an expert on k-bars by anymeans(i really dont know that much about them), but that is what our customer called this. https://www.kabar.com/product/productDetail.do?productNumber=BK2&mode=category&categoryId=1,2,3,7&categoryName=Military/Tactical

I think perhaps a few here, myself included, are guilty of stereotyping We tend to think of the Marine "Ka-Bar" as the ONLY Ka-Bar when in deed, Ka-Bar is simply a brand of very fine knives. The Marine knife was actually made by several makers over the years but the term Ka-Bar still defines them as well. Kinda like Scotch Tape. The Gov't folks tend to require at times, more from a manufacturer than they can yield and have to let others in on the action. Just like all US Gov't 1911-A1s were not made by colt. Not exactly the same but anyway... Again, Sorry for the ribbing and keep showing us your work. We never get tired of seeing beautiful art such as yours.
October 6, 201015 yr Dodge, Randy, thanks for the history lesson, I was with Dodge on the marine fighting knife too. Still love the work! Phil

You can see the resemblance now cant you thanks again for the kind words Looks like you nailed it for sure, Randy I like that shape. I've made one knife so far and I wasn't following any pattern but the blade came out with a similar shape albeit blunter in the point. Would yours be called a drop point? Really like the contrast in the patten weld. What metals did you use for the billet?
October 7, 201015 yr Author Yeah dodge its a drop point, its not the most dramatic one, but the steel we use is 1095 and 15n20
