Bentiron1946 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Welcome to IFI! Sorry to hear about the pacemaker so I guess that leaves forge welding. You may want to let us know where you are located as there may be someone close by to help you get started. Quote
Glenn Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Go to user CP top of the forum page and enter your location. Click here Getting Started in Blacksmithing Click here Metalworking Lessons > Lessons in Blacksmithing Build your first forge and play in the fire until you decide what your second forge should look like (grin). Welcome to Blacksmithing and IForgeIron. Quote
David Einhorn Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) ... I have built machines all my life and now need a pacemaker. They say no welding or plasma torch. Ok how do get around this? Welcome to the forum. Please add your location to your signon by indicating your approximate location using the CP (control panel). I am sure that you can work out an arrangement to share your experience in exchange for help with welding, cutting and learning about blacksmithing. I am in the process of acquiring a metal lathe (missing parts, and apparently loosing more parts each time the lathe is moved by Grandpa's decendents) and also trying to build a roller mill (I need to turn the rollers, and make the keyways), and have been a hobbyist blacksmith and hobbyist welder for many years, so I would be very happy to such an exchange if you are near where I live. This part of the lathe goes where? :D Edited September 23, 2009 by UnicornForge Quote
Dragons lair Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Should go on the backside of the headstock. Motor belt to large pulley. Flat belt to matching step pulley in headstock(3 speeds) Ken Quote
Frosty Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Welcome aboard Blackbird, glad to have ya. Gas and forge welding will do for many things and trading fine forged goods for the electric welding should take care of the rest. If you live reasonably close to me I'll be happy to lend a hand.
