keithf Posted August 12, 2009 Share Posted August 12, 2009 I have a 40kg Sahinler power hammer and it has an annoying whistle when it is in the hitting phase. I have tried to locate the problem but so far no luck. Anyone who has had this problem or might suggest a remedy I would really apreciate it. An old Alldays & Onions hammer i used to work under had a pneumatic systems/ air compressor silencer on the exhaust. Apparently it was unbearable without it. pkrankow Posted August 26, 2009 Share Posted August 26, 2009 I know nothing about power hammers, but I have had whistles in Tee's and couplers in air lines that have volume going though them. nonjic Posted August 27, 2009 Share Posted August 27, 2009 Ive not done much work on sahindlers so cant really suggest much more than the obvious im afraid. 1) earplugs 2) trace the whistle. I think there are some rubber ' car radiator ' air hoses in there. A split in one of those might not be instantly noticable, but could leak under full work conditions. Hofi Posted August 27, 2009 Share Posted August 27, 2009 keith first you must hear if it is a mechanical or air ''wistle'' they are different if it is mecahnical you have oiling problames and this one you must solv instently it can cause sevear damege to the hammer !!!!!!!! as john said can be a very small crack in on of the rubber pipes this will not cause dammege to the hammer but when the crack will be bigger the hammer will not operate to check it you have to take the upper cover away and when the hammer is opperating go with your hand along the pipes and you''ll fill the leacage. ask for spear parts original parts(pipe) from the dealler. if all the above is OK then may be this is the natural noise of the hammer !! the you can pot an old car mofler on the exohst steel pipe end or an air compressor mufller. advising a problam like this far away from the problam is not eassy I hope I helped a bit Hofi Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
