_Jake_
Hi how is everyone. I am a new member here. I just took a class and was working as an assistant at Penland School of Crafts and someone turned me on to this website. I do lots of non ferrous metal work, large and small, as well as steel fab. Im young, a student, and real eager to learn. I also will be making lots of tools, especially hammers. Photos will come later. Thanks yall. Frosty
Welcome aboard Jake, glad to have ya. "Working" at Penland is almost an oxymoron, most of us would be giddy at the chance to attend let alone "work" there. Soak it up buddy, as much as possible from everyone willing to share. If you'll click "User CP" at the top of the page and edit your profile to show your location (although we can guess;) ) it can make a big difference. IFI is represented by members in more than 50 countries and a lot of info is location specific. Also if local folk know where you are they can invite you to gatherings (more likely mooch invites from YOU ) tip you to tool deals and swap techniques in person. It's a win win. _Jake_
Thanks guys. And Frosty, the term 'work' is an unfortunate enough but it is harder to describe any other way. Good times, good folk, lots of learning. Im excited to learn more and I hope this site is part of that.
ThomasPowers
Jake; You know that if you are a paid attendee at Quad-State you can sell for FREE there and you will not be able to find a larger gathering of smiths itching to spend money that there! OTOH you will have some stiff competition from folks making and selling hammers there too.
