  1. Vinegar in a crockpot will do it but will take a little while. I work mostly in copper and if you want to go all out get, I like Rio Pickle for non ferrous metals from Rio Grande.
  2. Great thanks guys. I guess Il have to use something else. But what would happen if I did try to forge them? are they just brittle and difficult? or is there some sort of risk involved?
  3. So I have a whole bunch of cast iron weights from old windows. For anybody who hasn't seen what Im talking about they are about 16 inches long and 1 and 1/4 inch wide cast iron and are from windows about 75 years old and were recently replaced. My question is: Is this essentially wrought iron? I was considering turning them into new curtain rods for the newly renovated windows.
  4. Very nice!!! Looking forward to the meeting. Really dig the guy with the plow. Lots of dimension.
  5. Very nice and very marketable. Fortune: you will be a rich man.
  6. That is honestly beautiful and awesome in the fullest extent of the words. Good job. I would honestly economically consider buying one
  7. Totally 90s Rob. Woot. So very down. Good job and I sincerely hope you keep creating its realy nice it really is. Now lets see it bigger. Right on and good job.
  8. Thanks guys. And Frosty, the term 'work' is an unfortunate enough but it is harder to describe any other way. Good times, good folk, lots of learning. Im excited to learn more and I hope this site is part of that.

Ive seen in done it a 4 foot tall furnace made from clay and straw. I agree, possible: yes, practical: no.
  10. African Gongs are essentially a type of bell and take at most an hour.
  11. Hey this may not be the right place for this post but I am a student around the rochester/syracuse area studying metals and just got back from classes at penland and am looking to meet local smiths in the area. Anybody from around here or know anyone, let me know. Thanks.
  12. Hi how is everyone. I am a new member here. I just took a class and was working as an assistant at Penland School of Crafts and someone turned me on to this website. I do lots of non ferrous metal work, large and small, as well as steel fab. Im young, a student, and real eager to learn. I also will be making lots of tools, especially hammers. Photos will come later. Thanks yall.
