Had a great day with my new friend from Alaska, who contacted me through IFI some months ago about a visit to NZ. I took him out to The Tokomaru Steam Museum http://www.tokomarusteam.com/ for a look at a fully operational steam set up. Here's some pics of a couple of steam hammers and a big old Massey (10 hundredweight I'm told). I'd love to get some more info on these hammers, for the owners please.
Thanks for looking, Jason. -
And how about this!!

Here's part two.

Looks like you fullas had a great time. Good to see you're into the hangis over there! Have you got any history on that old Alcosa forge you've got there? I have one in my shop just like it. It came over from England with a blacksmith around 10 years ago, and the guy told me it was made in 1873.
Thanks, Jason. -
Beautiful work Bryce. I like that very much.

I wonder what they were saying? Any translaters out there?

These guys do it for $33.50 a pint. It was much cheaper for me to get it through them than to source it here. Look under kilns and supplies on there e catalog.

Nicely done RI! Well executed.
I'm liken' the table it's sitting on as well!
Thank you chyancarrek. The table is my mates. It's a real beauty. -
I'll just copy and paste what everyone else wrote! Great job!
I haven't gotten a chance to do anything like that yet although I do have a swage block with a ladle form. Did you do the pouring lip free hand, or on some sort of tool?
Thanks Fiery. I heated it with the gas plant and tweeked with some long round nose tongs.

Good improvisation using the pipe end for a die. I have an old swage block and use the through holes for the same purpose. Heck, that MIGHT actually be what they're for.
Frosty the Lucky.
It was my friends tool he uses for candle dishes. I will be making my own this week. Need a ladle anyone? :) -
Great job. Love the handle design, elegant and simple.
Thanks a lot Rob.

Nice job, if a little dippy.
How did you form it?
Frosty the Lucky.
Thanks Frosty. I formed it on the end of some heavy wall pipe with a rounding hammer.

Good deal Jason. It looks similar to the one the I just got for $150.
Thanks George. They are pretty hard to get over here. $150 for yours sounds like a very good price. They go anywhere from $300-$650 here. I remember seeing the odd one sitting in a garden or in a back porch when I was younger. I new something wasn't right with that way back then.
