    Jason,

I like that end quite a bit.

    Billy

Thanks Billy, its usually the end where I head to. The other stores the car and some other metal and woodworking gear that was my grandfathers.
I really like your shop too. Thats a neat old looking building. I see some newish timber on some of the framing. Did you build it there? What was it used for before the smithy?

  2. Looks like its a tube socket, that may have been made/modified to undo car aerial mast nuts. They have the mast going through the centre of the nut where it secures to the guard (fender). The nut has two opposing slots on it. I'm in the motor trade, and have used similar sockets. The "21" sounds like it was metric. I have also seen brass cap screw type bolts with a similar head. It was on some sort of old machinery or engine.

  3. Merry Christmas from NZ you Aussies!!!! If any of you decide to venture across the ditch for a look, and are heading through the lower north island, let me know. Call in for a cuppa or a beer. Take care.

  4. Good morning everyone. It's Christmas day already here in New Zealand. Slightly overcast and warm weather. No snow like some of you on the other side will be experiencing!!! Merry Christmas to you all. Take great care over the holidays.

  5. Same here. Too much of my energy gets put into my day job (working on cars etc), but that pays the bills. We have a 9.5 acre block of land, covered in pines, gorse, and native bush, so thats where a lot of my spare time goes. When theres a slow day at work and I can afford to, I get home a light the forge. Practice practice practice.

  6. This old girl runs a 10 inch stack. I've made a shroud to lower the height of the hood, for when I first fire it up. I remove it after around 10 minutes, and provided I'm not too generous with fresh coal, there is very minimal smoke in the shop. I've made up this high velocity stack for it, which works great.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your forge work Jesse.
