  1. Ill look into that youtuber thank you patents are a pain (and vague), ill search for one on specifically green gold maybe it will point towards something https://patents.google.com/patent/US6406568B1/en https://patents.google.com/patent/KR20190131931A/en two vauge patents & a court case, which means there is another patent somewhere i am unable to find, https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/514/159/ I dont know law but the case reads as follows, which leads me to suspect there is another. unless trademarks dont require patents.... (i dont know im not lawyer) "Petitioner Qualitex Company has for years colored the dry cleaning press pads it manufactures with a special shade of green gold. After respondent Jacobson Products (a Qualitex rival) began to use a similar shade on its own press pads, Qualitex registered its color as a trademark and added a trademark infringement count to the suit it had previously filed challenging Jacobson's use of the green-gold color." Note that the patents are not just those lines of words, click download & it will become a pdf in the next tab over where you can read it, (it doesnt download itself unless you manually do it, so no need to worry)
  2. Came across this early into my metal studies & thought id share, I present to you colored gold! from red to blue purple to green. Purple a mixture of (about) 20% AL to 80% gold, melting & mixed. It doesnt have any unique property's and as a matter of fact is much more brittle & prone to scratching (then another other alloy listed) & even harder to make ( I however like the color purple & thought it was neat. ) Green is a mixture of (around) 15-20% Electrum (14-30% silver Electrum) to a 85-80% gold base, Cadmium could also be used but something about health concerns, (also a pain to make and less effective - apparently easier then purple though if I could find a patent id quote them on instructions) Black is a mixture of 75% gold with 25% cobalt it form a black oxide layer with heat treatment - Copper, iron and titanium can be also used for such effect. (this is a small list of the colors of gold, ill link my source below if you yourself wanna check Not to interesting i know but i thought it was cool enough to write about, if you guys know any other cool alloys please share! Source 1 - https://nancytroske.com/blogs/news/different-colors-of-gold-yellow-white-rose-green?srsltid=AfmBOorlWLZNrmEJQmCKwCEsikIxvK1nsKS0SVuMAarPP0g188akkBQ- Source 2 -https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/50/22/de/a3627232771421/US6929776.pdf (patent owned by a company in Singapore -step by step (vauge) instructions Source 3 - https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/15/10/43/03b591fcefce38/US3067052.pdf Thank you for reading and have a good day/night ~Ebin H Other colors i didn't include because i couldn't find a source, but there are rumor of a their being a rainbow of gold to find. (maybe a leprechaun at the end of it?)
  3. Thank you all i will do some reading i like the ideas from everyone, show rules below (fixed) Id like to do something cool, the last few shows ive gone to have punished me for "simple design" which i kinda understand kinda dont... (only so many ways to build a table and such?) But basically the project has to fit one of the categories below, I thought of a cook set but dont know what spot to put it in, outdoor cooking equipment is full of smokers & such but maybe misc cooking? (sect. 32) Im not the most tech savvy & had to get a friend to do it this way (sorry frosty)
  4. Hey guys, looking to brainstorm some ideas with yall, Our county show is coming up & im trying to figure out something nice to make for a Project show. I thought about a knife set from the forge, (but i know how shoddy my metal work is) Also thought on remaking a concert table i made my sophomore year (photo attached) Basically just a bunch of brainstorming on what yall think would look nice for a show i aint got the most creative mind & ive found no inspiration (i have tools, welder, wood, etc i jsut aint got the idea...) Show rules attached as well ECYE_RULES_-_2024(2)-pages.pdf Thought about a bit of furniture then selling after words but i just cant imagine someone buying a $500+ dollar chair set?
  5. Same Psi i should have understood, i dunno how i dropped the ball on that one - my bad, how do i block off the rest of the forge when just using the two burners though? (((And i dont usually have that big door open just did for the photo)) Also please keep in mind this is all a school thing so im trying to get the answers to the questions as i can it might be another week or two though... Thanks for the advice on the lining,
  6. The right burner is off & that left one is turned down via a valve near the top, i was mostly just using it to keep a sub section of my metal warm - My bad for not saying! I have no idea, its one of those majestic forges but its older then sin... I will look into Russian roses thank you!
  7. Hey guys sorry if this post is in the wrong spot, but anyhows, about 2 weeks ago i made a post, spoke of my forge not getting hot enough, a goop residue over prolonged use and a few other minor problems, this is an update for Frosty (who requested some photos "A pic of the interior through opening shortly after you light it so we can get a look at the burner flames. Then another after it's HOT. Another pic of the whole forge including the burners, burners behave differently and some have their own quirks. A pic across the opening from the side against a dark background so we can see how much and what kind of dragon's breath it has. From the one pic it looks like more than I like but it's not a good angle. " so here those are... I will say, i had a much easier time heating my metal, i messed with it a little before hand & i may have just fixed it, then again I was using a much thinner steel, (like 10mm round bar) (was making a ring to give the missus for valentines day, but if you got any other ideas for gifts id love hearing those too) Goop still happened & Im sure it will always too - it just felt right forging this time? a feeling a I never felt while forging before and I wish I could explain it but it just felt proper? (still haven't seen anything past orange though? Maybe a faint yellow but i also didnt heat up the ring to much to risk breaking it so it could be from my lack of effort?) Thank you for reading! ~ Ebin H It
  8. We've been working on this little mini trailer house project for about a week now, its being sponsored by one of our local construction company's 5th period double block did the floor & my class did the first walls & silts Pardon our goofy smiles the entire class was hilarious - something about building & making jokes warms my soul
  9. Ryobi 100% - as to what it is? No idea but my school uses their brand alot for our woodwork & im 99% sure ive seen it on a saw table before
  10. Also, Side rant on my part, helmet wise, they are all the same. aslong as one works, ive used countless helmets and sure there are nice expensive ones but you can use anything aslong as it works. I didnt use a helmet for like 2 & a half months and was welding for like an hour a day. (if you place your gun covering the arc, you wont get arc eye (as fast - trust me i did...) anyways i read a story on a guy who did similar and turns out he got radiation poisoning & developed these weird looking warts on his face. Safe to say i quickly stopped that... ((Be safe in general also))
  11. I use to live in Illinois when i was younger, i dont remember the cold (Wish i did im dying down here now and its only like 23) but it remember the stars, Maybe my eyes were better but ive never seen something so pretty. I did a science project on sky pollution and acording to 7th grade me (& some bad math) if sky pollutions continues as is, our sky will be unrecognizable by 207X
  12. Highkey genius above me, i didn't even consider tripping breakers - I dont have anything to add but i just gotta give props to the person above
  13. Ill give that a shot, thank you! I guess? Never really heard any?
  14. If your looking for a MIG welder, Id recommend anything you can find, I like miller brand (only because its the a welder i know like the back of my hand)((also cost to all heck though)) but I've seen someone use one off temu and weld fine. (probs not too good for a perm solution) Stick? I have no idea but my school uses a Lincoln we won at a build off a few years back? MIG wise - if you can find one at a yard sale or something like that, a second hand one even if broken isn't too hard to fix. Unless something wrong with electronics then your on your own... Anything else and i have no idea))
