  1. Whew, it's always encouraging to know nobody noticed I was missing.
  2. Cannon Cocker, Thread the end of your shaft and forge a small ball.............drill and tap it and you've a two-ended handle for your vise that can be removed any time you have the need.
  3. Really like your vids. Prefer some vocals, but hey, so you're a blacksmith not a orator! Keep up the good work.
  4. I drool every time I see a "full-sized" anvil..................to me that means at least 125 pounds. I live in Oklahoma. But I have no idea what realistic prices per pound an anvil in decent shape should sell for.
  5. Well, I'm totally cross-eyed! I just finished going through 375 pages of pictures....................didn't read all the posts, but poured over the pictures. Only thing I can say is I'm sick and tired of all those beautiful anvils jumpin' up in the back of your pickups and followin' you home! Sure never happened to me! But thanks.............all the pictures were fun to see.
  6. Now you're talking my language! We have lots of spiders to live with here in Oklahoma. We have so many Fiddleback spiders on my property the home alarm system people wrote a note on our alarm box warning of them. They opened it and found several Fiddlebacks enjoying the privacy of the box...........and it's inside our home! Those are nasty little boogers!
  7. If only I could, Thomas, if only I could. It did, however clear up by about 1:00 and was a beautiful, albeit, muggy day in the neighborhood.
  8. Rain, rain, rain, rain.................and more rain. So sick and tired of it. Got an inch and a half of rain in about a 20 minute period this morning. A little hail and a lot of wind. We are so sick of the rain. Did I mention we are sick of it? I've got trees on the property that are falling over because the ground is too wet. Had to tie a 20 year old Scarlet Redbud tree to a couple of other trees this afternoon to stabilize it. We've had 55 inches in the last 365 days.................far above out average rainfall. I've got a guy coming to cut down a rather large tree that's threatening our house and he can't get too it with his cherry picker because the ground is too soft. Don't know if things will ever dry out. On a side note, I don't think I've ever seen Oklahoma so green in June! (remember, we are "dust bowl" country)
  9. The hose that's coming with the regulator is 1/4" ID.......................so that means I should get a 1/4" needle valve and 1/4-turn shut off valve......yes?
  10. Ha-ha..................overthinking is my middle name. But thanks for reminding me. As Mikey suggested, I just don't want the hassle or disappointment down the road because I tried to save a buck. Okay, so this is the one I'll go with. It's the same one they use on the forges where I go on Thursday night.
  11. I've been reading reviews on Adjustable Regulators until I'm blue in the face. Every one I look at has many positive and many negative comments. Is there a regulator out there that is consistent in it's dispensing of propane ?
  12. Both "valves" are very interesting. Thanks.
  13. Sorry. It's a Bouncy Castle type blower. It's designed to keep blowing when it hits a resistance and return the air to it's intake to keep the motor cool. I've been advised, repeatedly to use a gate valve and not a ball valve because of the linear flow problems. Just curious what most of you are using to control the air flow. I found a 2" Gate Valve for $26............which was a lot cheaper than the brass one at the local hardware store for $40!
  14. This question is aimed at those of your who are using forced air for your propane forge. I'm assuming most of you are using a 2" pipe from your blower to your burner. What are you using to control the flow of air? My blower doesn't allow restriction of the intake, so I will require a valve of some sort to control how much air I have moving.
  15. Thanks, Vern, I hadn't even considered "hard" plumbing. Makes sense...........Not going to have to travel but about 3 feet at the most. Thanks for waking me up! I'll still need to get a gauge to go in the line. But that saves the cost of the hose.
  16. Thanks, Thomas. By "rubber", I meant rubber propane hose. The way my setup will be laid out, the hose won't be anywhere near the forge, or anything hot. Just wondering if I "have" to buy the more expensive braided metal hose.
  17. Thanks, Thomas. Thanks, Frosty, I'll check there. Sounds as if you've taken some handgun training! "Slow and steady makes for faster and more accurate". Frosty, Is a rubber hose okay for this purpose............or should I plan on a shielded?
  18. Thanks, Frosty.........I appreciate the offer to help. Regulators aren't within my expertise, to say the least. Don't know the first thing about them to be completely honest. Going on-line, one looks just as good as another. I'm also getting to the bottom of my "money bucket" at this point.
  19. I guess Amazon would be just as good a place to start as any. Thanks, Mikey.
  20. Gettin' all the pieces gathered for my forge build. I'm looking for a regulator. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't I be looking for a max 20psi regulator? I think I've heard something about a "red top regulator" being mentioned. Can't seem to find anything like that on-line in searches. I've also heard the regulators sold for oxy/acetylene rigs work great............is that correct? Those are pretty expensive, I'd think.
