  1. Hmm, I hadn't thought of that my logic was that the guillotine tool would help more because even if I loose some force, I'd be able to make up for it due to less bad hammer strikes.
  2. Thomas, how could it cut down on efficiency if I'm going to be using a set of dies that are shaped like a cross,pein?

Mine is a trenton anvil it has pretty good rebound approximately 80 or 90 percent, and probably not very much my intention is the mostly use it for some cuting ones I make some hot cut dies, and for lengthening forge welded billets and other stuff that is just to thick to efficiently hand hammer

  5. Yeah buzz, its not quite finished I do not know it im going to need to weld on a bottom plate to help protect my anvil what do y'all think?
  6. Yes i know i can make them into different things without knowing the original use but that stuff is just interesting to me and yup thats my plan is to spark test and organize

  8. So i got a box of old tools for a dollar for the most part is was all just cold chiseled but there were some weird things in there, and i was hoping somebody could help identify them.
  9. Ok thats really cool also I was wondering if the pto shaft would be good for making hardie tools and was wondering if I needed to heat treat it or no?

So i am currently looking at byong a set of tongs and was wondering if anybody has used thes tongs before they are from kens custom iron they are mild steel the rapid tongs are 5/16 and come with 5 differnet types of blanks they are aboit 60 dollars after shipping and the quick tongs are a set of 4 blanks that are 3/8 thick also mild steel and they are about the same cost was hoping to get some reviews on them
  11. True that makes sense I hadnt thought about how much price difference there would be I knew it wpuld probably be large tho, now what is a glut?
  12. But why wpuld somebody make a wedge from wrought iron it wouldnt hold up wpuld it ?

  14. Ok neat now I guess the simplest thing to do is gonna be spart test and heat treat accordingly?
  15. Well I was wondering is the long bar a leaf spring or no? And also what about the bar that the chain link is attached to I was thinking it may be a wedge but idk

  20. True true I think I'm gonna just go to more flea markets and more ncabana meetings and see what happens maybe ill get lucky
