Well broke my cheapo HE vise today. Broke out a used Babco 605. Anyone have one. Missing a jaw plate trying to figure out how to put in a replacement. Screw holes are shot. Wondering if I preheat would it weld in?
  5. Follow Bam Bam's plan. Your COCOA is a great resource and a written 3 year business plan will really open your eyes to all the "hidden" expenses.
  6. You may want to inquire on Legal Zoom for professional law advise.
  7. It's steel. And high grade. Pretty sure it's a mount for an injection mold.
  8. Thanks. Very much a newbie still. Wanted to forge this weekend but we got over a foot of snow and I am open air setup. I'll let ya know. Again thanks.
  9. Second grind on new hammer. Think I have it rounded well. What does everyone think?
  10. Team. Just modified my new hammer. Any thoughts on the grind?
  11. Hello team. What's everyone on a good source of temp sticks/crayons for heat treating. My iron maxes out at 600 degrees.
  12. Now that is a good idea. Would be really easy to fabricate. I like it. Ideas evolve and plans change. I'm going with it. Thanks.
  13. Thanks Jim. My wife is coming up there to visit in Bay City. If I wasn'the working I would come see ya.

Hey team. I was looking to construct myself a post vice. Anyone every tried this.
  15. I was planning on making a ledge on one side later. Your first reply to the original pick really got me thinking of all the options for this baby. Thanks for the input. I was testing the height and it was rebounding great. Can't imagine when I sit it on edge
  16. That's great hillbilly. My guys are really nice too. I just have to get in early before they get going and they take me to the stuff and load it. You buy those guys lunch 1 time and they'll be calling you.
  17. With 1" barstock i can attach anything. Work on building a post vise next. Think I'll make the vise as a drop in. Haven't decided for sure.
  18. Was wondering get what I needed till I watch a local knife make just grab a pipe wrench. Twisted the heck out of a railroad spike
  19. Thing rebounds great even on the wood floor. Just waiting for my smith friend to hammer out my horn. Less than $20 in whole thing.
  20. Joe are you selling any of the extra vises.
  21. Yeah that's why I don't keep a clock in the shop. That way I can lie to myself
  22. Going out today to trade him some exotic woods I'll get some of his work. He was finishing a beautiful Damascus piece yesterday.
