  1. I like it. Made a regular one myself. Looks good in front of the house.
  2. If you have a grinding metal recycle yard make friends with the manager. They have lots of good grade stuff they can't grind. I got great deals on huge piece of steel for an anvil. They will usually sell anything they can't sfread. Usually really high grade steel cheap
  3. My metal plate anvil has a big u shaped cut out that was where I was going to weld in the horn. I want to thank everyone your posts are super helpful for a newbie
  4. I hope to be able to do knives, axes, and iron work to accompany my woodworking projects.don't every think I'll be doing giant pieces or production scale work. Just a guy who likes to make things "anythings" that come into the old idea locker on my shoulders.
  5. I'll definitely look into it a a local machine shop. What do think is a good way to see if it turns out hard enough?
  6. Do you think it may work without treatment. I'm just a beginner.
  7. I live in a small town may be able to machine but have no idea where to get it hammered into a horn?
  8. Team. I am grinding down a case hardened 4 inch hydraulic ram for a freestanding horn. If the top is left alone should or how would I harden it. Won't even scratch with a file right now. all caps have been replaced with normal text and post relocated.
  9. Thanks for the feedback folks. I am grinding a horn out of 4" hydraulic ram. Have to see how that hold up. Keep on banging!
  10. Team, I just acquired a 300lb block of steel about 2 1/2 inches thick. Only slightly dents with small ball peen hammer. Should I try case hardening or leave it alone? Suckered tings like a bell and has great bounce back already.
