You nearly back home with it?

I know a smith with a switch on the wall for the blower. Works good, no foot switch to trip over.

Way I see it if you dont put up an argument against what he is doing you are by knowledge and inaction at least ssying you are happy for him to continue. At least get a good commission out of him for your rights.

No negatives if you give it a good clean off with water mate.

Seen a drum go 20yrds from a fire, 100yrds is not far for a rod shaped missile. Take them down to the mechanics and be done with it.

best way to tell would be hit the second step with a scriber and then see if the scriber sounds different on the side (known soft). Head over to chat now if you like, I'm about 3 hrs west of you.

Thoughts and prayers with you mate.

Hedges are good sound baffles, good for the yard, can nearly hid your smithy or your neighbours. Now would be the time to start planning, and get a fisher.

I've had stuff hit me in the eye while wearing glass's and faceshields. Things can hit you in the eye while wearing them, a LOT more things will hit you in the eye if you dont wear them. Your choice

Mate, IMO, let the anvil go, grab a chunk of rail iron, make a forge and start hammering. Keep saving your $ young fella, the only $4K I ever saved I spent. Buy a 100lb anvil if you must. I know the big anvil seems like the be all and end all atm but unless you have the work for it it will only be a white elephant, at best, $4K worth of pretty big bragging rights. The other thing is big anvils are not that saleable.
