Compressor.
Thank's for the post's. Beaver was so right about the computer fan.. It's a refreshing breeze.. But i don't think the fire would notice it. And Sam, your right but, the problem is I have alot of time.. and a bank roll of nothing. So time is all i have to spend. Well im going to look into an apprenticeship, for smithing soon, so that'll knock me straight on everything. I have a concrete BBQ chimnley that im going to try move over to my forge soon. So i can stop dying, and get a good air flow from that aswell. Buut the only thing i can do at the moment is steal the miss's hair drye and risk a bloody nose, or change the motor in the cpu fan (which was a actually a side fan for the tower) i just realised. im sure i've got a stronger one here somewhere.. or make me some bellows out of thin air.. actually... come to think of it i thin i have a large desktop fan here somewhere... Well i'll go look, Cheer's

Compressor.
Cheer's for the post's guy's, yeah John hit the nail on the head, well i was using some wierd piping that lowered the pressure when it got to the forge, but gave alot of air output.. Actually... It just may of been bad "plumbing" on my side. Well i have a few fans around amongst the other thing's I can try. What do you think of a cpu fan from a computer in a coke bottle, hooked up to a motorcycle battery? Apart from probably a burnt out fan? Cheer's again

Compressor.
Well my compressor is broken.. the fan mashed it's self against the cover, destroying both fan and cover. So im looking for another. I want a relativly small one that can kick out up to 100 psi. I'll only use about 60 most of the time but when i want a bit more heat i go a bit higher. Any site's or places you can reccomend would be much appreciated. But no general hardware store's cos' they're useless down here. Cheer's

Help, starting off.
Ah, see I am taking all these idea's in for when I finally get my shed sorted out. I don't have a table for my forge currently.. But i gotta shiny bin... Which now has a grinded up ol' lump of a quality street box stuffed in top to help. Well today i was teaching my brother the basics of how to heat and hit metal. He made some funny little squiggly thing.. it sort of looks like an 8 on a plate... I'll post a picture later. I also hardened off my knife. Didn't go to plan. Well I heated it up to a sort of darky sort of yellow.. Checked if it was magnetic.. But while doing this realised when i pulled the blade out of the fire, and brought it up it just sagged bent... which sucked.. Well in the end i repeated the process about 3 times, was quite annoyed to find at some point a nitch had appeared in my blade near the tip, I'll add a photo aswell.. Well basicly next time I'm going to use either a leaf spring or a tractor plow disk, or some general 5160.. Or whatever the number was. If i can find any.. With out getting caught ripping apart car's or tractors... Cheer's

My first attempt.
Nice shaping Nate. And even nicer hat Are you gonna make a nice sheath or scabbard to go? Like leather or something. Would look real nice if it was the same as the hat.. But don't use the hat!!

New to smithin'
Hey welcome to the forum Noah, I'm sure you'll find what your looking for here. Finding smith's is probably easiest in a phone or address directory.. I'm from england, we have the yellow pages, but i'm sure you have something similar over there. Good luck and have a good time!

A good forge
When you get some picture's up, im sure these guy's will be able to help you more, but remember to go with what you want and feel comfortable with. Also remember once you cut thing's up to much it's hard, if not ni' impossible to get them back to how they were before. So do think before you act. But good luck mate, I'm sure you'll get something perfect for you. Don't forget that trial and error is the same as practice makes perfect.

Help, starting off.
Ah cheer's for clearing that up Nate, Yeah I think i'll put something infront of any hot area anyway, plasterboard or even some wood.. make charcoal as i go . Well today I got fed up of been "smogged" to death by coal so i made a make shift temporary chimnley, out of one of those metal bin's that open when you press the button with your foot. It probably wasn't the best idea, having a boiling hot bin relativly sturdily balanced on top of a wind visor for a bbq over my forge.. Anyway It was a little less smoggy, here's a picture of the "teeter-totter chimnley" Cheer's

Purchsing Decision Assistance Please
How much is the 250lb? And is the mount there not salvageable? I don't know much by any mean's, but how long have you been blacksmithing for, and what skill level are you at.. if one is cheaper but your a novice.. it's probably a better idea.. though obviously in the long run the better is ... better.

New guy
Na' man highlanders advice was sooo far over my head.. i got to the metal.. and phew.. too much. I didn't mean that in paticular, but definatly ask and ask again. Also i wouldn't take anything "special" off of frosty.. sounds dodgey to say the least. Anyway back on topic good luck, not that you'll need it here, these guy's will have you making thing's in no time!

Pineapple Twist

Im sure you can get some sound-proof or similar insulation, and some of those windows, probably expensive, but it might be worth it? Just an idea.

Thank's alot guy's for the info, Just need to wait for the weather to get nice, before i can get back out there.. rain is okay to an extent... hail is not fun. Need to get my stuff moved into my shed, while im on that, my shed is galvonised.. I guess I will need to put some heat sheilds up, will plasterboard be enough or something similar.. Or is it just a bad idea to use the shed? Glenn can ya' check your messages, cheer's. Thank's

Help, starting off.
Ah i see that's good! Currently it's a bit limiting since im outside anyway, and have to keep boards up around me to stop the fire being blown away by the wind around my house, but soon i'll have an indoor forge and can sort something out like this properly at the moment i just want somewhere for the smoke to go up on it's own so im less likely to die. It's okay when the wind is with me, but when the wind is against me it's blindingly horrible. Cheer's
