  3. This is the other style I'm trying, it's not done yet but thought I would show the progress.
  4. Thanks. I've been looking in to finding a better way to make then and I'm trying a different style this time so we'll see how this next one turns out.
  5. I've made a few of these when I have down time at work I built this one for a friend during my breaks. Just wanted your opinions. Everything is cut from .125 a-36 plate and the stem is .375 rod. I used a torch to heat the pieces and hammered the shape of the vise one at a time welding them together with L-56 hard wire. Bead blasted everything and then buffed and reheated to get the color. The engraving was done with a diamond bit and die grinder. The gold detailing was done with brass rod then clear coated.
  6. I thought about finishing it anyway but it would just annoy me till I started over anyway. I'll try again when I get more coal
  7. yes i plan on it but im not sure how tight they will be ill make that decision when i get to it. Getting more coal this weekend so ill be able to try it again.
  8. Lol I would be ok with that if that was my original intention
  9. Started to finish the ram head today made the eyes nostrils and mouth. Reheated to start the horn twist and left it just a second to long and melted one horn so I'm going to try again tomorrow.
  10. I looked in to what Lenox saw blades are made of. They wouldn't tell me exactly what is was but the teeth are high speed steel and the backing is spring steel. I asked if it was 1095 cause it hardened the same and the guy chuckled and said I was really close. Don't know if this helps anyone but I'm pretty sure it's 1095 or 1075.
  11. Made the punches and blunt chisel today. I going to try and finish it by this weekend.
  12. Been having a lot of problems with blades so I decided to try working on some other project to help me improve hammer control, welding ect. Started it tonight and ill keep it posted as I go. We'll see what happens.
