  9. turned out really nice! I have a ways to go as well, and that is much better than anything im able to do... Im having big issues with forge welding, but ill figure it out. thanks for sharing your pics :)
  10. I have a very hard time finding blacksmithing equipment where I live, so when I do find it, I buy it up so I have it incase I need it.
  11. your layout should be what YOU want and is what i most convenient for you. Pick an area of the shop you want to do most of your work in. place the equipment you use the most in close proximity to there. Less used equipment can go farther away.
  12. yeah i realized that, i was just in a rush because i was tired.
  13. this is my result. it came out a little big because i was rushing to beat the storm clouds rolling in, as my forge sits outdoors while it is hot. try #1 melted in my coal forge when i wasn't paying attention. this one was made in my propane forge.
  14. this poker is 1/2 inch square steel. it is about 3 feet long
  15. thanks everyone! i still dont have all the tools i need to make things work the way i want them to. i dont have any hot chisels, ive been using cold chisels for hot work and it doesnt turn out well.. :-p
  16. try running it on BBQ charcoal to see if that will light. if so then its a coal problem.
  17. Desmond Stephan Mfg. Co. used to make all sorts of shop tools. Now all they do is grinding wheel dressers. Desmond - Grinding Wheel Dressers - Home
