as usual QS was a blast. Bought a new gasser from the really nice folks at Chile Forge. Had a great time hanging out in the campground with the folks from the forgemagic site, great chow. Met a lot of new folks & checked in with the old ones. Cant wait until next year.
I dont know why we dont all recognize each other. I mean there couldnt have been over 600 fat guys with gray hair, jeans and suspenders walking around. Should have been easy. :-) -
I will be there about noon on Friday. :)

As Habu68 says, the motors of woodworking tools are not protected from the cutoff wheel dust & metal dust. I had to replace my Skil saw because of this. JMHO

Way to go Chuck!!!

It is long gone. It was worn out, crumbled away, & burnt -up when I got it years ago & I still got about 3 or 4 more years out of it. I will get a new box to mount the burners on one of these days.
-
Thanks folks. I had thought that 3 burners might be just a little bit too much for that size tank. But it would have been a heckuva flame though. :)
-
I saved the 3 burner set from my old worn out NC whisper Daddy. Has anyone tried these burners on a freon tank forge? Would these three burners be too much for a forge this size? Would I be better off to just weld up a new steel box the approximate size of the original & line it with 1" firebrick?

Gene,
So sorry to hear of your loss. You are in our thoughts & prayers. -
Thanks Mike!

Thanks folks. I am going to get into it after my vacation next week.

My Champion blower cranks well and puts out good air. But when you stop cranking the blades begin beating against the housing something fierce. I was told that the bolt & big locking nut on the side of it adjusted this. No luck so far. I have set the depth of said bolt every where it can go and it still clangs away. Any ideas for a fix?

Yesteryearforge,
A favor if you would. Try to find out what the part no. is for the blowers you used. I looked at Graingers site & as you know they have about 4,000 different blowers to pick from. No rush. Whenever you can. Thanks. -
Old safes often had a tear gas bomb inside the door to discourage evil-doers. Usually a glass tube.
-
Where did you get the blowers & how much were they, if I may ask.

I stand corrected. :-(
The memory aint what she used to be. -
Not quite so new. When I was in college back in the dark ages, certain fraternities were very into branding their insignia on their members. :)

It seems that someone did a blueprint here or a demo on another site that used dried corn for fuel, and it was a bust due to the air blast disrupting the fire. Correct me if I am mistaken here folks.
I would think that the small wood pellets would have the same result? -
I bought one when I first started, but never did really like it. Even after reshaping the handle. It just seemed "clunky" to me, for lack of a better description. If you have a SEARS store close enough, stop in & see how it feels.
I ended up donating it to our church to use in the Easter depiction, along with the nails I forged from RR spikes.
I prefer an old Channel Lock brand hammer that I bought at Quad State a few years ago. Similar weight, with a slimmer profile and once I rehandled it, it seems to be much better for me. -
That would be good. IF you owned a bank to finance it. :)
-
Valentin, that one has lots of potential. I like it.

Flames are good. After I retired from the Volunteer fire dept. this past winter I got a bulldog, (wearing a fire helmet, & smoking a cigar) surrounded by flames on my upper arm.

Well said Jr., I retired from the VFD this winter. They will get a heroes welcome into the hereafter.

I have 7 tats already. One more couldnt hurt. My youngest son suggested a large anvil for a back piece. OUCH!
How to summon help?

I work in the attached garage so I have the regular phone line out there, plus my cell phone, and lastly I put in an intercom system going to the kitchen. Not so much for safety as for summonming fresh iced tea. :-)
