I rarely use my coal forge, but when I do I set a 6 ft. stack on top of the hood to draw it up high and run a fan behind me in the shop to help disperse the smoke. No complaints so far. I live in the midle of a very nice subdivision too.

Make sure she knows what a "nice anvil" is compared to an ASO!
Nothing is worse than a family member blowing the budget to buy junk and then being upset cause you are not in raptures. My wife and I have a pact that she doesn't buy stuff in my area of intrest for me and I don't buy stuff in her area of interest *without* getting it checked by the appropriate spouse *first*.
That sounds like my deal also. :) -
And people ask me why I dont shoe horses.

I am impressed! Great interview and very nice work. Keep it up.

My grandfather was a carpenter & one of his pals showed up one day in a slightly (or more) tipsy state & asked him to pull a tooth for him. Pappaw sat him down & reached for the tooth with an old pair of pliers, at which point the guy asked him, "Ed, you arent drunk too are you?" For Christmas that year Dad made Pappaw a cedar sign which read "W.E. Cornish-Painless extractions"

I have a keyless chuck on my ancient Delta drill press. Just hand tighten the chuck, turn on the press & hit the chuck with the palm of my hand.

I have a 335. I bought it new from Blacksmithsupply.
Minor Complaints:
When I work out on the rear horn it makes a really weird/annoying ring. I keep telling myself to keep an eye for a big speaker magnet and put it on the underside of the rear horn to see if that changes its "tune".
Not to hijack the thread. But, I put a heavy bead of silicone caulk between my anvil & its wooden base. Worked a treat to deaden the ring.
Now back to the previous Euroanvil conversation. :) -
A stellar performance. :)

Some folks are just plain lucky. Great find.

I used one of those fire rakes more times than I wanted to. Hard work raking a line down to bare soil while climbing these hills, it is'nt much fun on level ground. :)

I use a 2 lb. Peddinghaus Engineers style cross peen, a 2 Lb. Channellock cross peen and a 3 lb. Diamond rounding hammer.

I have been a Security Police Officer for 29 years in the nuclear industry. Also did almost 15 years as a Firefighter/EMT in a paid-on-call fire dept.

I have been having some health problems that have a side effect of dry skin. My Dr. recomended Eucerin. Being a cheapscape I bought a tub of the "Equate" brand generic equivalent at Wally World. The Eucerin was $13 and the generic was $4 for a failry large tub.
It has worked very well suprising me. I have put it on very dry and pealing skin and in 24 hours my skin clear with no sign of dry skin. I am sold on it and better yet it is cheap.
As much as I hate the wally world takeover of American merchandising, their Equate brand products are quite good. Usually a ingredient comparison is identical to the name brand, and you can always buy the Equate brand in the regular store cheaper than the name brands at their Sam's Club. -
The above should have gone under the speed limit sign thread.
Any more questions on MY pc abilities? :) -

Riverside hospital has one that sets the limit at 16.5 mph.

Beeswax will do the same thing for your handles. Almost too good until it wears a bit.

4 new welding magnets and a Levi insulated cordouroy shop jacket.

Missing vise leg- grind a bevel on both pieces, preheat, weld, very slow cooldown (like on top of the dying woodstove). This worked for my biggest vise.

I learned to braze as a kid helping in Dad's orthopaedic shop. Learned to Mig from a friend when I started smithing.
The friend I mention is an excellent weldor. I asked him where he learned one time & he said "I was working at a farm equipment operation that had a big silo type storage tank. It had a hole in it & the boss told me to patch it. I been welding ever since". :) -
Merry Christmas to you all!!
