I was in Oakman yesterday right there on HGY-411 , Slept in a old abandoned truck stop there. If I'd would have known you were in the Area, I would have give you a shout. I could use some more tools.. lol.. I guess that's the way it goes. I maybe back in the area tomorrow, I gotta deliver in Atlanta and may head back up to Benton, Tenn to pick up another load of water.

I think the tool you are asking about is a rope swage. You do need a power hammer or striker to use one effectively though. 3/8 is small enough that you could probably get away with a treadle hammer or possibly a flypress.
Thanks for all of your help, J Newman was right it's called a Rope Swage, I was wondering what the name was so I could find one and get a idea on how I want to make mine, you all shared some real good idea's.. Thanks again..Tom -
Thats a pretty wild looking gate,, lol
-
yea I just made one and used a piece of Coil spring and then drilled the end and then grinded to shape... Works good.
-
I was wondering if someone on here knew the name of the Tool that you use to cut a straigt line thru the middle of a piece of 3/8s square , so that when you twist you get the Rope Twist.. Thanks inadvance for your help.Tom
