Well I stopped in at the Junk place with high hopes of finding a better Post Drill then the one I have.. The old man told me some one came in and bought a bunch of his old blacksmith stuff. .. They cleaned him out pretty good, there's still remnants of blower's the ones I seen were all rust locked and he had a couple old post vises that were in bad shape.. Ol well... I guess that's the way it goes..

But I fiqured I would call and make sure.. Thanks Thomas.. -

I like some of your theories, especially the one that has me getting older.
The truth is Deb got me a netbook mini laptop thingamajig so I could check E-mail, the forum and such. Unfortunately the hospital only has Yahooo available so she had to sign me up with a Yahoo account and Yahoo won't accept a simple name, it has to have extra letters in front and numbers in back. So, that's where AkFrosty57 came from.
I'm home now and have access to my desk top computer and my old handle plus she set me up on her laptop with my old handle and password so I should appear as me. Of course, there's not telling, a few minutes ago I tried sending a rather long "I'm BACK" post but it bounced, maybe.
I guess I'll have to keep messages short and keep my fingers crossed.
It's GOOD to be home and back in communication.
Frosty

The first thing I made when I got into this , Was a pair of tongs, They weren't pretty but worked for a little while, the second pair was a little better , I think I've made around five pairs so far, and the ones that I favor look terrible, But work pretty darn good.. Once I finaly relized that both sides are the same, and Started making them together instead of making one side and then the other It worked out pretty darn good.
I agree with other's.. "don't buy your tools make um" -
Tom, first, thanks for sharing the video and pix. Second, does chawin' on somethin' help make the forging easier? LOL. Couldn't resist.
that chew of tobacco was pretty good C/George..lol... and Jeff you are right those safty glasses won't work sitting on the shelf.. -

Me and UnkleSpike, Come up with a idea about Challenging each other on making stuff, I'm still trying to learn and I thought some of you all might be interested in this. The Challenge was to make a set of Hinges. I got mine darn neer done, I got a question for one of you old timer's. . I need to know how you forge weld the pin or Pintle without burning off the pin, I'm sure you soak it I'll find out next time I get to fire up the forge. If some of you all want to get involved with the Challenge. leave a post.
Here's a clip that I put together.
