  1. I am in China, so I don't make horseshoe. :0
  2. THANK YOU! Great help for me! I attach the petals by tenon from the stem not screw. I love traditional blacksmithing techniques very much. I have made a guillotine tool for tenon making, necking, etc. It is hold in my leg vise while striking. Wax and then lacquer over and relacquer? Formerly I thought they couldn't combine well for wax is soft and lacquer is hard and they would come off when touched. Wax finishing makes beautiful surface but non waterproof and the ironworks will rust quickly. It puzzled me a lot. None of our clients like the rust on ironworks, maybe some of us not. I like the red rust because it is Fe3O4 and I don't like the yellowish-brown rust because it is Fe2O3. Fe3O4 is stable and Fe2O3 not. I seached WD-40 on the internet. Is it a metal cleaner? I’ll try it. THANKS!
  3. They are cured over by small scroll tongs. My scroll tongs is get from my father, not made by myself. Actuality, I will make a pair of big ones for bending works. I have some questions. As you see, the camera flash is on ,the rust comes out. Why? I supply two finishing for my clients: bees wax finishing and clear lacquer after wire brushed. What kind finishing will you choose on this candlestick? Why? How? THANKS!!
  4. It is one of the best items that I've made.
  5. Hi,guys. Thanks for looking and your suggestions. Next will be tripod, trammel hook, fire tools, etc.
  6. THANKS, Braedon. Some hooks i made few days ago. The treble clef hook is made from 1/3" round bar. I love the texture, it gets many rust for years exposed in outdoor.
  7. THANKS for your encouragement too, Frosty. I learn all my blacksmithing knowledge and technique from internet. About three years ago, I resigned because I love blacksmithing so. Almost all my family and friends are against me, they all think that I am crazy, but I won't give up it. Traditional blacksmithing almost can't be seen in China, it is just an European style. I hope i can show it to more people in China and the other country. In Aug 2009, I made two Russian iron roses from 1/2" round bar. They are ugly..... I plan to make a businiss card holder and some other items applying the style rose. Frosty, Could I get more guide from you if you like? Thanks again.
  8. To be an artist blacksmith.

  9. I'm very happy because one client order a iron rose in my Eshop. The second rose is just for him. I modified the rose pattern sizes. And I made another one with a holder. The holder is made by a 1/4" round bar. I bend two circle to hold the rose, wraped with some thin hemp rope, it matchs the iron. Yesterday I made a pine cone, but not finished. Some advices? THANKS!!
