  2. http://www.phoenixrockgym.com/aaba/AnvilsHorn1009.pdf P16-17 Tom Latane showed how to made an anvil bridge from leaf spring steel. :)
  3. THANKS Yeah, I just use 2" thickness fire brick on both side, even top as a cover for hold the fire. The top one is thinner, about 1" thickness.
  4. The forge is finished last month. It is my 3rd coal forge, the frame is modified from 2nd forge. It is 29 1/2" height, 24" longth and width. The fire pot is 1 1/2" depth, bottom is 5" × 5", top open is 8"× 8". The bottom is 1/2" steel plate. The air pipe is 4" and 3" in diameter. The forge works much better than those I made before. It provides bigger and stronger fire.
  5. Hi, guys! I'm trying to get the linseed oil-beeswax-turpentine-Janpan drier finishing for indoor items. I used plain beeswax and linseed oil-beeswax finishing before. Now another two stuffs in my hands? THANKS for your informations!
  6. Wonderful ideas and photos! THANKS. Sparrow or magpie would be my choice. My cleint supplied the original photo for reference. I can't differentiate what stuff made it.
  7. One of my clients costumed a chandelier. The main body is a birdcase and a sculpture standing bird in it. The bird may be 6" ×5" (L×H). I'd like to forge it with no welding. But I haven't done any items like this. Someone give me any advice? THANKS!! :)
  8. Sorry for my Chinglish. I thought it is safer that the two(or four) table legs connect together. Get it?
  9. The legs are not a whole, safe? I like the traditional forging and joints really.
  10. NICE work! Boiled Linseed oil, I just want to try the finishing on inside ironworks.
  11. Thanks. I just bought a bottle of linseed oil few days ago. I have the similiar questions on oil & beeswax mixture. It seems that turpentine is not a must because it is a thinner. It in my hand is chemical product and is acrid, I hate it. Japan dryer I can't know what it is, so I have not one. Though it speeds the drying, so it is not a must too?
  12. Thanks everyone!! I think that I made a mistake about the ball hardy tools. It should be ground more. That is reasonable. But ball hardy tools are uncommon, I don't known why I made them, I just made them. I think that varies hardy tools are very important for blacksmithing, the edges of anvil face too. Philip in china, I guess you took that photo of the statue. I downloaded it from ANVILfire? Now I can't remember the website. It is very difficult for me to find a London pattern anvil, really hard to see in our city. There are some casting workshops nearby to me. I'll custom one when I have more money. The cost is too ..... My now anvil works good.
  13. I love your SKETCH BOOK, for example splitting cross, the diamond twisting.

  14. Thanks. I have the same question and another. Today, I get WD40 and spray it on my hand hammers and anvil while cold after wire brushed. It work well! Next I'll apply it while black hot then bees wax or warm. Show my new scrolling tongs made from coil spring. Thanks, John B, I planned to make it from mild steel until visiting your web site. The belt buckle is the first one I made. The 3 lb. hammer is ordered from a master blacksmith near to me. I grind the face and peen, then put the handle on it. And the iron braid handle.... not too ugly, isn't it? :0
