  1. My bad, I should probably stop being arrogant and check my facts first. Sorry about that Mr. Sells.
  2. His publishers aren't his parents. They helped him get his first book out there. Let's get the facts right please. Random HOuse is his publisher.
  3. Quenchcrack, you don't have to make sure you don't get drilled by other members. It will surely be said either way, but people don't have to drill you about "you get what you pay for". I haven't used either, but you could always re-HT them.
  4. Yeah, he's an author right??? Not a smith. They are good books, but I'm 14, and they are for high-school range.
  5. We don't all make knives woody. Lol. Unicorn, one of our guild members made a sweet back-scratcher out of one.

    drill press

My new(old) drill press. Not sure how much it is worth, but it came out a guys shop who has really high-quality equipment, so it has to be a good one. Cost me $0!!!
  9. I just made a hoof pick for my aunt tonight out of a RR spike, Picture attached.
  10. Wow Jerry, four burners for a little forge like that??? Trying to burn the forge up??? Lol, could you explain why you have the four burners in that forge??? And maybe a BP for it??? It looks really nice and well made.
  11. That's almost the best kind of stand, $5, the best is free. Good job. Hope it works well for you.
  12. Um, a drill and a drill bit. Buy one of the ones that are used for drywall for putting huge holes in walls, but get one for wood. (Many actually). The other thing is you drill a circle and then punch the inside out and sand it. I'd go with the drywall one though, faster and easier.
  13. Lol, nails. im going to wedge it soon.
  14. Eh, not to sound really dumb, but a what's a pawn shop again??? lol
  15. Okay Chris, did you get the 4140 from speedy???? Ill see if I can get a webcam setup with RT sometime soon. I also have access to the 4140, but it'd be about $10 more for a foot of it. doesn't matter that much to me, but I'd rather go with the 8620 as it's a lot like 4340. I'll go with SQ stock, but should I use 1.5 SQ stock 4" long or 2" SQ stock, 3" long??? BTW..... Well today in-between heats of two of my knives, I made this little hammer out of 1045 3/4" stock, 4" long. This is a little welding hammer I guess. I got my technique done for making hammers other than punching and drifting., this was really easy, but I need some drifts & punches.
  16. Hey all, I was wondering what kind of steel to use and what thickness to use as well for my hammers. I am looking at either 1045 steel or 8620 steel, almost same pricing for me and should I use 1 1/2" round stock or 2" round stock??? I will be using 3" sections of each to make my hammers. Ordering them in 12" sections. Thanks in advance, John
  17. Glad to have this off of your chest rich??? Great work!!!
