  6. Hi fellas, I have this idea for a new, cheaper, gas forge. Instead of propane or natural gas, Methane ! I know, this is going to STINK ! But not if the gas burns with a hundred percent effeciency. The oriface size of the burners will have to be changed from propane to nat. gas, because propane uses to much pressure, and this will be a low pressure forge to be safer. The only drawback is that it needs two people to run it. But because of the low cost of fuel it will be most effecient. Of course the fuel lines can still be soft copper, with brass Flare fittings as they are the safest to date. A pezzo lighter for the main burners is a must though. And from my research it shows that Methane burns HOTTER than Propane, so the heating up period is a lot less. Anyway here is a drawing of the mock up, take a look and see if you can come up with any improvements. I'm sure there will be plenty so thanks in advance for all your suggestions. -----Duck

  10. All gas fired equipment must be piped in black iron according to the code here in Canada. Compression (brass ) fitting losen with use, and solder melts in adverse conditions. If you had to explain to someone else why someone got blown up because of a material malfunction you recommended you are taking too many risks, and just think of what insurance companys would do with this situation. Hummmm let me think, hope you do to. A multi licience Gas fitter!
  11. This must be the time of year for forges to freeze, on the bottom gear have you removed the outside nut and screw or the grease hub? try spraying where the shaft is mounted. worked for mine.
  12. Hi Guys I a small problem with a 210 blower that siezed up. I CHANGED THE GREASE in the lower gear, the old stuff was like dryed out candy. I then checked all the axle fittings on the gears and they were dry and slightly rusted. I freed them up with wd 40, the ball bearings that fit against another ball bearing inside. I imagine these are what keeps the gears in alignment. My question is how much oil should be in the bottom of the gearbox and what type ? There are no auto oilers in this model just pugs on the top and bottom. Thanks in advance to all your answers ------Duck

    peen size

Jeff buy every pean hammer at sales that are broken or rusted. All off them can be re made or reshaped with fire or grinder. They make good hot punches. or any special hammer you want. Claw hammers too. just weld the claws together.
