  1. LOL..good point! didn't think of it that way..lol..
  2. Well I have to get this approved before you guys can see it..Me and my DARN poddy mouth.. I did go to the scrapyard and they let me in. Man it was cool! A lot of useful steel. I managed to pick up the thin end of a forklifk tine (with a chain hole), most of the tubes to a ram (for bodywork) including the solid cylinder! Also some misc. pieces for whatever I might decide on doing. Lots of thanks guys, much appreciated!! Oh, and my forge is up and running now, brake drum..
  3. Might start a knife tonight if I can finish up my home made avvil. Got a lot of nice steel from the scrapyard in Toledo. Thanks guys and gals for all the help and idea, much appreciated!

  4. Thanks guys! I am leaving the iforge site though, or I should say I've been booted... I have been officialy booted (I think) for my language. Guess I have a poddy mouth or something, not exactly sure what the deal is but I am going to stop visiting here. Good luck, god bless, and happy smithing! You were NOT booted. The conversation was taken off line and you were directed to the site guide lines concerning inappropriate language. No cussing means no cussing. You were informed that your posts were being moderated for inappropriate language. This is the first moderated post. It was your choice to leave the site, you were not booted or banned as you suggested.
  5. Nice work! Comming from me, (untrained) not sure if that means to much to ya..lol..But, good job anyhow.
  6. Good, I'm glad you caught the sarcasm..lol..But, I'll call the recycler tomorow and see if I can roam the yard. Or xxxx, I'll just go up there and tell them what I am looking for and maybe they can get it for me. I'm sure for insurance purposes, I won't be allowed. I will check though. If not, I'm kinda xxxxxx, I think.
  7. Ok, when you say "scrap yard" you mean scrap cars or scrap metal, alluminum, etc? Because I don't think I can roam our local recycler. The only places I can walk around are "car" scrap yards. I'm not seeing a big enough fender (sacrasm, sorry) or hunk of steel to make an anvil. Maybe I can be enlightned then. Who knows I'll give it a tryo. I'll take my 2 year old girl tomorw and let her roam the junkyard with daddy..lol..Daddy, daughter day at the junkyard..lol..why not.
  8. Wow, feels like I just got scorned by my dad..lol..Ok, maybe I will find a different plan then? Good Lord..lol..
  9. Small steps grasshopper..My forge is close (brake drum) just haven't had a lot of time. Patience on the other hand, I must say I suprised myself by not rushing out and spending a lot of money. I'm walking the tracks Friday with a former City Councialmen. He's an old neighbor, former Marine (I know, I know, ALWAYS A MARINE.lol) and I don't think we'll get into trouble..lol..He's a great guy, believes in the old ways, like I do. I'm going to try and find some spikes and maybe even some track, if we can lug it back to the truck that is..Only a small piece, big enough for an anvil. Any suggestions on size? Fried the ol lady's hair dryer on accident..lol..don't ask. Let's just say I learned what resistors are used for now..lol..
  10. Is this the blower? http://www.americanartifacts.com/smma/advert/ay245.htm
  11. Great read so far! Every beginer should read this one! Thanks
  12. I gotta say, I'm sorry for my last post..wow..caught me at a bad time I guess..Thanks Frosty, I might just do that.
  13. I won't waste my energy getting **** with you but, I do not know brakes my friend. Never took the time to learn them, last time I checked it was a choice to learn or not to learn something. I've made the choice to not learn brakes, just like I'm sure you've mad a CHOICE not to learn something as well! Easy killer, maybe you need to re-examine how you speak to people, or maybe I'm looking to far into your rude comment. I could careless what you think about me..lol.. I can paint candy or base coat clear coat, or even ghost flame anything under the sun, I am a body guy and a welder, not a brake guy!
  14. Ya, I saw your post, I commented on it.. All I can say is WOW..lol..A bit more than 10 bucks..lol
  15. Yep you are right, it's a slot with the adjuster inside the slot. I got to the adjuster with a piece of 3/16 rolled that I flattned for the keys, but it's froze solid. So, I am taking a step back and ran up and talked to a buddy of mine that owns a shop and he pointed me in the right direction for a drum. Local brake shop had one (imagine that) and I got it for 10 bucks..Money well spent, and timed saved. Well, I shouldn't say money well spent, it wouldn't go for 10 bucks at the scrap yard..lol..But, I've got one now, so I have the starting point.
  16. I can't get to the adjuster. It's on the backing plate but I have to slide the drum off some to be able to get to it. The piece of xxxx is stuck in the grooves like you said. I might have to try another wheel or just go to the bone yard already..grrrr
  17. Yep, whatever trips your trigger.
  18. I've been trying to pull off the rear break drum off my old Lemans to make a brake drum forge but the **** is stuck on! The car set outside in Vadila Virgina for 26 flippin years!! So it does move, but obviously not enough. The interior is stripped and there is no pressure in the brakes lines to possibly realease the brakes, if that was the issue. So, now what? Ive beat it, beat it, and beat it, and the old girl won't budge..Any ideas? Heat it to trie to expand it? Will cast expand, it is cast iron correct?
  19. Nice work..This is an awesome site with a ton of uesful info, and great people too..How the heck do you pound on an anvil in an apt?!..lol..your neighbors gotta love you..lol.

  21. I'm very sorry for your loss..I did and will say a prayer for you and your family! God Bless!
  22. Just thought some of you might like to see this article//Not sure if it belongs here so feel free to move it..Simply how crazy people get with money..I'm sorry but if I had the money to build a garage like any of these, I think I would do something FAR more important with the money. I don't want to be afraid of scratching my garage floor or getting it dirty.. http://realestate.ya...unusual-garages
  23. Anything to help brother!! I just like free things..lol..but if I have to spend money to learn something I know I will enjoy, so be it. Me personaly, I just have to justify spending money is all...I've become frugal in my older years I guess..BUT I am only 35..but feel like 75 most days.
