  2. Hello to all, I have not been on the site in a while. But I just picked up this sweet Lakeside anvil today, weighs right at 105lbs. I am wanting to get a manufacture date if possible. Looks to be like new condition, rings loud and clear and has an excellent rebound., still have to clean it up. Serial number is 153123 Lakeside stamped on it.
  3. Hello to all, I just acquired this 75lb anvil in mint condition. It is marked BBARD with line underneath. and 75 on the right side. And serial number is 34248 on the front left foot/ any thoughts?? I first was thinking it might be a Hibbard Spencer Bartlet brand made by Trenton? Has the hollow oval in the base. Neat little anvil paid $160 for it.
  4. Thanks for the replys, Both vises are 40" tall, the 6" Columbian is marked well on the mounting bracket and satmped 1914 on the front jaw. So far I have not cleaned anymore on the Peter Wright? but it does say, Patented solid box, I will look for more markings soon In the top pictures the Vise on the left is the Columbian, on the right is the new PW, How common are the larger jawed vises thanks Jeff
  5. Thanks again for the info, how early for year are we talking 1900 or earler?

  7. Hi to all, I just got a new toy, it is a 7 1/4" jaw Post vise weighs right at 145lbs. I was scraping the grease and dirt off of it, before I wire brush it, And on it I found it says "Solid Box Patented" is this a Peter Wright Post Vise? Any Ideas on the values? Also in the pic is my 6" Columbian weighs 100lbs for comparison, both are in excellent shape
  8. Hello to all, I have here is a pic of an anvil, that will be at an up coming auction, any Ideas on what make it might be? I am guessing it might be one of the VANDIUM brand anvils?, might say that on the other side? thanks Jeff
  9. Hello to all, I just got this little beauty today, all cleaned up and home, fresh today from an estate auction. Peter Wright 0-3-4 for weight marks and is right over 85lbs on my scale. Has a 1" inch hardy and 5/8" pritchle hole, rings well and rebound is excellent!! Anyway to date these Peter Wrights has 0 0 on front feet under the horn. Also has, E D H stamped under the weight marks??

  11. Hello to all, I just came home with another toy from a Memorial day auction. Wire burshed and oiled, a beautiful Hay Budden. Weighs 94 lbs, it is like new, the serial nimber is 190231 any idea on the year of manufacture. thanks Jeff
  12. Here is my new 150# Columbian anvil all cleaned up. I have had this old Viking creamer stand, that I am thinking of mounting it to. Any thought on cast iron stands? It is very heavy and is right at 1/4" plus thick all over top is even thicker?? There is a nice raised "C" cast on the bottom of the stand, I think they were made for one another! My 100lb Columbian vise isleaning next to it
  13. That was kind of what I thought I had read somewhere, and what I wanted to confirm. Thanks for the info, this one will be put to good use really soon!
  14. Well thanks for the info, I did get the anvil, I just got it home weighed it, and posting now. Weight is 150lbs or so on my old scale, it is 27" long, and rings just like my 250lb sodefer, rebound is excellent!! And it is a beauty, for $300, the stump weighs as much as the anvil! My last question is how thick are the face plates on these Columbian anvils??
