  5. Have you got dirt dobbers in Australia? I have heard stories that the old blacksmiths would grab a dirt dobber nest and forge weld with it. I did a search on the web and found this statement. Dirt Dobber nest with the larva removed and the rest crushed to almost a power.
  6. We had our November meeting during the Harvest Festival at the Agriculture Museum. Ernie and Tommy discussed the planning that took place to build the beautiful hanging lamp Ernie has finished, then we moved to the Blacksmith shop for a green coal class and some forging. It was announced that the lamp is going to be on display at the ABANA Conference. We had a great time and I took a few pics. Picasa Web Albums - Lyle - November Meet...
  7. Here are some pics of the Agriculture Museum during its transition to accomodate the ghosts and ghouls. I made rings during the day, then just made sparks in the back of the shop once it got dark, had fun burning up some steel. (on purpose) At the end is some pictures of the rings and bracelets I have been making that Brian showed us how to make. These are nowhere near as good as the ones Brian made but we all get better with practice. I intend to keep practicing. Picasa Web Albums - Lyle - Halloween at ...

  9. I made a beautiful copper ring today and told Ricky to give it to his wife.

  10. Here is a link to the all the albums. Right now the first 12 are of Brians abilities. There are over 1400 pictures so far. Brian is wanting to help as many people as he can. I hope these pictures will help everyone to see a little of what Brian has to offer. The man has a tremendous ability to remember everything. This allows him to be efficient in everything he does. 22. Overmodulated, I think the true advantage is that when you seal your part in the foil it is heated in the absence of oxygen therefore no scale is formed. If you are a tool and die person and have machined a part to close tolerances you only want to have to remove a little stock to get your finished dimensions on a surface grinder. I have seen people put newspaper inside the foil and because of the lack of oxygen it did not burn until the foil was opened to drop the part in the oil.
