    S-7 works well for pritchels as well as fullering tools. If you are unsure about the type of steel harden in oil first not water.

    I went to a hammer-in many years ago and there were guys there wearing shirts with horseshoes with a line over them. The guy demonstrating kept making snide remarks about horseshoers. It ticked me off since I was the only one there that was making a full time living with a hammer and anvil.

    I have an Adams flypress. Clean it up good with degreaser and adjust the ways if necessary. I use plain old red grease on mine. They are very versatile and with the right dies they can do almost anything.

    The copper stem has a tenon that is riveted through the petals.

    Thank you for your replies. Stem and leaves are forged from 5/8 copper rod.

    It takes three tools to make a nail hole in 5/16 material. Stamp, Drift Pritchel. The stamp is driven in first and creates the portion of the hole for the nailhead. Two to three hits are enough. Run the frog eye over the horn then restamp lightly to clean hole up. The drift forms the portion of the hole for the nail shank. Lightly bottom the drift in the hole. This will reduce the slug that will be sheared by the pritchel to 1/16. Pritchel at a black heat. Hope this helps!
