Yep, cable cutter( .steel )
I would replace the jaws w/ jaws that you made and save the good ones for cable.
Then you could cut hot bar all day. -

When you find the tad paint it orange,so you can find it quicker next time.

For junkyard or found steel what was its old job ie...leaf spring, might b med carbon, railing= mild steel,chisel= tool steel, hammer head= cast steel or D2 etc.
Its guess work but it'll get you in the ball park.

Where you use'n scrap lumber? It's often treated W/ some nasty stuff. Be Carefull!

The MWO just says use a plasama cutter so as not to mess up the the temper.[just w/alot more words and way more confusing]

I'm in the military and we have to adapt some sheilds to allow for barrels to fit through them.
This steel is HHS; is anyone familiar w/this type of steel ? is it air hardening?
