I am not a blacksmith but I was browsing for free landscaping supplies on craigslist and came across this post for 1/2 ton of clean steel. I know a lot of blacksmith's don't particularly love to repurpose steel and I know there are different kinds of steel and not all of them are suitable for repurposing but I figured I'd pass the info on to local blacksmith's in case it's just that one in a million break. My name is Zachary and I live in Las Vegas. I'm not exactly brand new to blacksmithing as I've made some stuff, but I'm definitely still a novice. I'd like to know if there are any others into blacksmithing here in Las Vegas, whether professionals or just do this in your spare time to maybe meet up and have some kind of beginner's class. I've attached photos of all the things I've made. The furthest I got in bladesmithing was that large knife. It was heat treated, but needs to be annealed to be beveled and sharpened. I also do welding so I incorporate that into my work when applicable.

I am a 57 yr old disable a guy who wants to watch someone to forge anything. Anybody willing to help me.

Hey All, Any suggestions for places to buy new steel in the Las Vegas / Henderson area? I need some 4140 5/8" round and square bar and the only place I know of (Metal Supermarkets) doesn't have it that. Thanks, George p.s. here are a couple pics of my work area...
