DKForge
Does anyone know if all Fishers have the hold down bolt holes under the horn and tail or were there some that do not have them? I am looking at a larger one that does not seem to have them and I was wondering if that is anything I need to be aware of. Thanks for your help. nett
Yes, my Fisher anvil doesn't have them, nor does it have the weight embossed on the front foot or the date cast on the heel, although it does have patent dates 1877 and 1884. Chuck Richards
I have a 250lb fisher, marked with name and date a weight indicator though part has been removed. No hold down holes. It does not need them. You will need to block it to keep it from moving on the stand.

Bentiron1946
I was told when I got mine that the ones with bolt holes are for the Navy and the ones without are for non-shipboard use. The fellow I got mine from bought it a ship salvage facility in Oakland in the 50's and had dozens to choose from so he took the biggest at $.05 a pound.
