Thor (well maybe not:P)
Hi everyone, i've had a read through a load of other threads and the community seems really nice . In way of introduction, I have just turned 16 and have had a long interest in the blacksmith trade, I would be grateful to any beginners advice and anyone who can give me any pointers. I'm from the second largest county in England (which isn't very big compared to America but it's home:)). Yeah thats me basically, I am still studying at school so any work i do will be in free time and the evenings. Anyway, thank you for allowing me to join and I'll probably be asking lots of questions to begin with:rolleyes::)

Frosty
Welcome aboard Thor. Ask away. My #1 pointer is build a fire, heat some steel and start beating on it. Repeat. Frosty
Thor (well maybe not:P)
Thanks for the advice:P I have set up a basic forge and i'm using a block of steel for an anvil. (I am in the process of looking everywhere for a decent anvil)
Steve Sells
Funny: because an anvil IS a block of steel, But some do have additional shapes to the basic flat face. Welcome to IFI , While this ain't Valhalla, its close enough for this lifetime.:D
