May 17May 17 I just received a Hay Budden 200 pound anvil. I appears the horn has been beaten down over the years. I am wondering if it is worth the trouble to try and straighten it or leave it alone. It was made in 1893
May 17May 17 Leave it alone is what I would do. I can’t control the wind. All I can do is adjust my sails. ~Semper Paratus~ USCG 1964-1970
May 17May 17 I second Irondragon. Leave it alone. In its present condition it will not affect its usability very much.
May 19May 19 Aside from the very tip being knocked downwards very slightly, that looks highly usable. A good rule of thumb is use an anvil for a long time before making changes to it, so you can know what you like and don't. If, eventually you find a lot of situations in which you need a perfectly conical cone tip, maybe adjust the tip with a flap disc a little, but otherwise I concur with the gentleman above completely. Congratulations. That's a nice, and valuable gift, especially in California.
June 14Jun 14 Feed it Viagra!! LOL. Use it as it is. If you don't like the shape of the Horn, make a different shape for the Hardy. Bend it 90 degrees if you need. There is more than 9 ways for Catskinning!!Neil
