December 7, 2025Dec 7 Here is an article about Danish Bronze age iron spearheads that are decorated with gold: https://www.thehistoryblog.com/ When I first looked at the photos I thought the gold disks were rivet heads of rivets that Penetrated through the blade but on closer inspection it appears that they are gold disks that were inserted into circular depressions (punched?) in the blade and then upset to grip the sides of the depressions. Also, look closely at the quality of the forging. Doing a socket like that and the medial ridge on the blade is not something you give the apprentice to do to keep him busy and out of trouble. December 7, 2025Dec 7 Inlay is a process of incising design in the parent body with undercut edges then the metal being inlaid is hammered in to upset into the undercut locking it in place. Thanks for the link George it's an interesting article and an easy entrance to a bunch of rabbit holes. I LOVE this stuff. Frosty The Lucky.
December 7, 2025Dec 7 Thanks for the link. I just skimmed the page pretty quick but the other articles looked just as interesting to me. I really like the Medusa.

The lady who does it has been putting up a new article almost every day for the last 15 years. Going back in to the past articles is a VERY deep rabbit hole. G
December 7, 2025Dec 7 I honored my father while he was alive, but as soon as we put him in the ground thirty years ago, I was done with her! Haven't had any communication with her since.
December 8, 2025Dec 8 Understandable. My wife has a step dad like that, although it seems a tight race to determine which one is more cruel- the step dad or the real mom.
