JHCC Posted February 19, 2025 Posted February 19, 2025 Claire Yellin (Samuel's granddaughter) just posted the following on social media: Quote Joseph Cunningham has been working on a Samuel Yellin monograph for over 10 years, and now there is light at the end of the tunnel - no it's not a train. It might even be available by the end of this year. Yale University Press is the publisher. The book is in 2 volumes and pictures are attached. It is now going through the final stages at the printer of editing, color corrections, etc. Here are the photos of the two volume set and their covers: Time to start saving my pennies.... Quote
LarryFahnoe Posted February 19, 2025 Posted February 19, 2025 Wow, that would be something to drool over. I went to the Yale University Press site to see if there was addition information, but did not find any. However I was prompted to join their mailing list for "30% off a single purchase" which might make this set somewhat more affordable; I hope the offer doesn't expire before the set comes out! --Larry Quote
Frosty Posted February 19, 2025 Posted February 19, 2025 Oh MAN, I'd have to make the set it's own shelf! You're right Larry, 30% off might make it affordable and worth joining a mailing list. Even if I'm subbed to more mailing lists than I want now. Recently I joined "Time Team" at the low tier so I can watch new episodes. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
George N. M. Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 Any idea of what the cost is going to be? Quote
JHCC Posted February 20, 2025 Author Posted February 20, 2025 No, not yet. My best guess so far is "not cheap". Quote
Frosty Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 How about we have an Iforge no prize but bragging right lottery? I'll make the first guess: Minimum $250. usd. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
George N. M. Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 I won't argue with you. Frosty. It wouldn't surprise me at all. I can see a serious mental debate about whether it would be more valuable to me than the same amount spent on some sort of new tool. Possibly the book and then the tools to make what inspires me from the book. G. Quote
gewoon ik Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 (edited) It is a perfect holidaygift, whatever holiday that might be. Edited February 21, 2025 by Mod34 Removed unnecessary quote Quote
Frosty Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 Ah, yes George. The never ending debate. The voices have long discussions about purchase priorities and they're getting more wistful the older I get. Heck, the voice saying start selling is winning. <sigh> Frosty The Lucky. Quote
George N. M. Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 Gewoon, it's a big world, every day is a holiday somewhere. G Quote
JHCC Posted April 26, 2025 Author Posted April 26, 2025 Update: Claire posts on Facebook that the book has a projected availability date of September 2, 2025. The Yale University Press shows it priced at $250, so Frosty wins the pool. Quote
Frosty Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 YIPEEE!!! Winner WINNER Chicken Dinner! Frosty The Lucky. Quote
LarryFahnoe Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Just got a note from Yale University Press, 30% off with coupon code GIFT30 valid through Dec 5, so that gets the set down to $175, somewhat more affordable --Larry Quote
Frosty Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 A $75 dollar discount makes it better but I still claim the WIN on guessing the asking price! Nobody specified discounts or special offers. Still out of my range unless a set were the prize for guessing right. DRATS I called for a no prize contest. Hoist by me own petard. . . AGAIN. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
