August 19, 20241 yr I came across an add for this old Peter Wright vise. @ 25 bucks and 2miles from home I couldn`t pass on it. Still moves and the spindle looks ok-ish as far as I can see. It`s floating in wd40 now, so it can start to consider cooperation in the near future... ...to be continued...
August 19, 20241 yr Actually, a 50/50 mixture of automatic transmission fluid and acetone will work better than WD-40, particularly as a penetrating oil. Very nice vise. I'm envious.
August 19, 20241 yr Author yes, I know, but both ingredients not available in my shop today... It will come apart in the end... frozen bolts or not Most times I try the friendly way first. I`ve got plenty vises, but I really like the looks of this model.

August 20, 20241 yr A weed burner torch also work nice to heat stuff up that is rusted fast. Although I love a good oxy-A torch I do not have one at home. The weed burner was my next best choice and cheaper too. It is a slower much wider cone of heat.
