seagiant
Hi, Curious about all the talk on Disc Grinders, threw this together from things laying around the shop, and... Might have fallen in love! Nothing fancy like the upper end high power VFD Contolled switch rotation, but... Has given me a bit of knowledge and will probably upgrade soon. Here's a pic and would advise anyone to give them a try, I was amazed how nice even this one works!
George N. M.
It reminds me of the horizontal disk grinders used for lapidary work. GNM
seagiant
Hi, Here is a pic of a real one with VFD Control. This one is horizontal!
Candidquality
They will definitly move some metal. Had access to a larger one at a previous company, and used it to grind my diagonal peen. Did not take long on a 20" model. Not the one i used, but similar. Had it suck in a knife once....
Scott NC
Good thing it didn't spit it back out at you. I worked in a packing house long ago and they had a grinder set up where floor workers could resharpen their own blades. Maintenance replaced the motor on it one day and wired it backwards. It had a buffing wheel on one side. I think we used it to straighten out the wire edge, it was a long time ago and someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not a edge expert. It made them back razor sharp. Anyway, it dug into my knife and shot it out of my hands, over my shoulder and across the kill floor. In a split second. Candidquality
Yep, I get the danger for sure. Last time I played with something that light/thin on that monster.
seagiant
Hi Well, I can get a better flat grind after coming off the 2x72 Grinder... With even the small Disk Grinder I have now. A real 1.5 or 2 HP FWD/REV, VFD REAL Disk Grinder, has to be the Bee's Knees!
