I would not reccomend one without vise!

 

Lol, I'd prolly take the wall down, then drill the hole precise, then put the wall back up.  ;)

I picked up a clamp a hand drill in it, bench top drill press at a yard sale and clamped it to my Little Giant to drill some precise holes. I tapped this one and it matched the bracket nicely. I called it my "Po Boy Mag Drill"

I really wanted a brake and shield over the spring.

This is what I was doing. Brake and scatter shield for the spring. The shield is grizzly screen so I can see the spring. If crack develops the paint will peal providing advanced warning. I needed to make the brake band longer, I might extend it one of these days but this one works okay.
